Fantastic experience: This is the very best dental office! The office is beautiful, with all private rooms and they are absolutely amazing at dealing with anxious patients. I cannot recommend Dr. Livingstone highly enough - he is gentle and kind and will do what is best for his patient, not his pockets.

Fantastic experience: They were SO patient with my 3.5 year old daughter. She was grabbing tools and running around and they managed to keep her attention, actually clean her teeth which I didn’t expect for her first real cleaning, and I think she’ll actually be excited to go back. The office is beautiful. I actually found parking right out front so that was also unexpected considering the downtown location. Reception was welcoming and showed patience and kindness. Vina (I’m not positive I got her name right) was very very good with her, she showed her the tools she was interested in, my daughter wanted to use them herself so she was patient and guided her to use them safely, and Brett the dentist let her show him her teeth from up in my arms when she refused to lay down again. This is the third office I’ve tried for Charlie and it will be the one we stick with. They billed my insurance direct too which is nice. Five stars and if I could give more I would.

Fantastic experience: Urban Smiles is outstanding. My wife and I were referred by a friend a few years ago, and the experience has been consistently great. At my first exam, they found decay under an old filling that my previous dentist had taken a “wait and see” approach to. Urban Smiles was proactive, clear, and practical about next steps. I ended up needing a root canal, and it likely saved me from a much more invasive and expensive procedure down the road. The root canal itself was surprisingly easy. Genuinely less painful than fillings I’ve had in the past. I had a checkup today, and the work is still holding strong years later. Every visit has been professional, reassuring, and positive. I actually feel confident going to the dentist now, which is not something I ever thought I’d say. I’ve been going here for several years and would 100% recommend Urban Smiles.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars I visited Urban Smile for an invisible braces consultation, and I was so impressed from start to finish! I called several clinics before, but Urban Smile stood out as the kindest and most caring. The staff were all so friendly, smiling, and welcoming—it immediately put me at ease. The treatment room was beautiful, with stunning floral panels on the ceiling that made the visit surprisingly enjoyable. Their equipment was state-of-the-art — instead of traditional X-rays, they used a sensor that created an incredibly detailed 3D image of my teeth on the computer. I was amazed! The dentist took plenty of time for a careful, thorough examination. Although my case required a specialist and they kindly referred me elsewhere, I truly appreciated their honesty and professionalism. And the entire consultation was completely free! I was deeply touched by their sincerity and thoughtful service. I would have loved to continue my treatment here, but I’ll definitely be recommending Urban Smile to my friends. Highly recommend!

I've had anxiety about getting dental work done for years and they've made it as easy as anyone could hope. Dr. Livingstone is absolutely on top of his work and very much approachable- no scary dentist vibes, absolute sweetheart. I can't thank them enough honestly.

Negative experience: I’m compelled to share my experience at Urban Smiles after an incredibly frustrating dental ordeal. Back in July 2019, I made it crystal clear that my priority for Tooth 26 was a durable, long-lasting solution and cost was not my main concern. Instead of recommending the obvious best choice, a full crown that would have offered real protection, they performed a porcelain onlay. This half-measure left much of my tooth exposed and vulnerable. Predictably, the onlay cracked completely after only six years while I was chewing bread, costing me more time, treatment, and money. What’s worse is their blatant deception on billing. My invoice on procedure day explicitly stated “Porcelain Onlay” (code 25531), yet months later they had the nerve to send me a second invoice demanding extra payment for a “Porcelain Crown” (code 27201) procedure they never performed. For years, I was misled into thinking I had a crown, while all along it was just an onlay giving me a false sense of security. That’s a shameful breach of trust. Urban Smiles brands themselves as “trauma-informed” dental care, but ironically used nitrous oxide during my treatment. This left me vulnerable and less able to question or advocate for myself, and certainly less able to scrutinize what I was being charged on the spot. Informed consent and clear communication aren’t optional; they’re essential. I left Urban Smiles feeling upsold, misinformed, and thoroughly exploited. If you have significant dental work ahead, I strongly urge you to get a second opinion, fully educate yourself, ask tough questions, and be wary of confusing or misleading billing tactics.

Fantastic experience: In short, I rate my experience as 100 out of 10. :) I found this clinic in SunLife’s website, sent an email for appointment and had a first-visit today. The clinic direct bill insurance company so it’s much convenient for us. First time of dental clinic visiting in Canada. The whole experience was really professional and I felt so welcoming. The receptionist is friendly, and very patient when answering my questions related to the insurance, prompt reply and accurate quotation. Lynn the assistant is so nice and caring when having X-ray scanning, relieved me from nervous and anxious. Dr. Livingstone is very gentle and knowledgeable, answered all my concerns about my teeth. Hygienist Zoe is detail-focused, provided me a lot of tips about teeth care actively. The environment is cleaning and refreshening, nice coffee station at the reception area, comfortable sofas for sitting and waiting, with complimentary flosses to take.

Negative experience: I had an extremely negative experience with Dr. Livingstone. He was unprofessional, condescending, and made false accusations during my visit. As a dentist in a position of authority, I expected empathy and understanding, especially regarding my health anxiety and severe dental pain, but he completely disregarded my concerns. I felt dismissed and disrespected throughout the appointment. His lack of compassion and professionalism made the experience incredibly stressful. I would never return to Dr. Livingstone, and I would not recommend him to anyone—especially those who experience dental anxiety or have serious dental pain.

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist is always a good experience for me. I begin my appointment at the stated time and everything is efficient. Any questions I have are carefully answered. Everyone is pleasant and there is never any discomfort.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment scheduled to see a dental hygienist, but due to an error with their new online booking system, my appointment was accidentally lost and never booked. Despite this mix-up, the team at Urban Smiles Victoria took excellent care of me and quickly rectified the situation. They went above and beyond to accommodate me, turning a potentially frustrating experience into a positive one. The dental hygienist I saw was excellent—thorough, efficient, and made the process comfortable. A big thank you to Urban Smiles Victoria for their understanding and professionalism in handling the situation. I truly appreciate their dedication to patient care!

Positive experience: Nice friendly attitude by the staff. Highly professional service. I liked everything except one thing: the cleaning was not done at once. Instead, the dental hygienist cleaned only my upper jaw, and scheduled the next appointment to clean up the lower jaw. It would be OK (I have time to come another day), but Urban Smiles expects me to pay for the next visit as if it were a new cleaning. The bottom line: I have to pay twice for one full cleaning of my teeth. Not happy about it.

Fantastic experience: Just had my lower teeth cleaned. I liked the way Darrel explained and showed what he was going to do. Also, the overhead TV showing a wildlife documentary helped relaxed me.

Fantastic experience: The doctor was able to fix a large cavity using a wall to surround the extremely dsmaged tooth, and did the operation without freezing. The cost was just over two-hundred dollars, mind, I had previously had an x-ray done already. It was very reasonable, and catered to a few special requests; including finding a time where everything could be done in one visit, and avoiding having to get a crown; which would cost a lot.

Fantastic experience: When I came to urban smiles Victoria I had low self esteem and felt very self conscious of my teeth for they were in rough condition, poor health and have always been prone to decay. Not only that but felt like I had a lot of poor previous work done. Dr. Livingstone, his assistant Nikki and the team of other assistants to the front end office staff were very kind and compassionate. Fantastic experience: Right from walking in, the admin staff are incredibly warm and welcoming! Once seated you truly feel like they care. During my clean I’ve never had that type of care and precision when doing the flossing. I’ve had some dental complications and Dr. Livingstone was genuinely concerned and had me in right away to solve the issue. I didn’t know what proper dental care was until I went to Urban Smiles.

Urban Smiles is super clean, modern, friendly, and the tvs on the ceiling are an added distraction bonus during my appointment. Highly recommend the dental hygienist Darren in particular!

Negative experience: Do not recommend. First, the hygienist was so slow and took so long that I had to book a second appointment and pay twice for something that should have lasted max 1 hour. Then, from a scan I was found cavities. I had no pain but went in for fillings. Since the fillings a month ago, the nerves under the teeth hurt so much that haven't been to chew properly on that side of the mouth and after an exam turns out I'll have to get the fillings replaced. Avoid.
