Negative experience: Ive been supporting this business for over 20 years but now just feel like a number. Dentists and hygenists have always been great but the customer service from management was poor and condensending.

Negative experience: At first this office was great, but some of the staff left and were replaced by greedy inexperienced younger dentists, constantly tried to talk me into dental work that I didn't need and was very expensive, the last straw was when the last dentist was paying more attention to his assistant than the operation and failed to file down a filling which resulted in an infection. Negative experience: They changed my son's appointment from 3pm to 10am in the last minute and when he didn't show up at 10am they charge me $100. That's pretty scammy.

Fantastic experience: Switched to this clinic after feeling unsure about my previous dentist, and I am very glad I did. Everyone I have interacted with here is friendly, sensible, and reasonable. They explain things clearly, focus on what is actually needed, and never push unnecessary treatments. It was a relief after my previous clinic pushed procedures that did not feel essential. I feel much more confident in the care I am receiving now and would happily recommend this practice to anyone looking for honest, trustworthy dental care.

Negative experience: Updated Review Oct 2025 - the last four times I have had an appointment here, even though it's noted on my file and I've verbally told the hygienists, Mint has been use on me or given to me as I walk out the door. I am allergic to mint. I don't know how to make it more clear that I have an allergy, do I need to wear a shirt or just YELL loudly when I am poisoned??? I've loved this dentist office for years, but I no longer feel safe. Very unhappy. Original Review done in 2018: Kind, quick, knowledgeable Admin team. Hygienists have all been compassionate, intelligent and personable. Dr. Andrea has been a good listener, provided excellent care and attention to my dental issues. I used to panic at the dentist's office, but now I know I'm in good hands, it's no longer a visit I dread. Thank you, Hillside team!!!

Positive experience: First experience is five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for check-up and booking process. Great administration and communication with doctor. I’m leaving one star behind only because my second visit will include the actual job done by the dentist I look forward to elevate four to five star for this review.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend this dental office to anyone. Quantity over quality, they rushed to fix my teeth and have done a horrible job. Not happy at all. Not to mention the long wait times and almost always minimum 30minutes late to get you in.

Negative experience: The teeth cleaning was completed in 7 minutes, but some teeth were not cleaned thoroughly. It was as fast as lightning, and I will not come again next time.

Negative experience: I would definitely not recommend this clinic to anyone. After moving near Hillside, I chose this clinic for its convenient location. Upon registering, I was assigned a specific dentist, but this was changed, and I ultimately saw a third dentist for my care. This, combined with the clinic's large size and high patient volume, made me feel like just a number. There also seems to be a high turnover of dentists here. (The reception staff, however, was always great.) I can't even comment on cleaning services, as there's currently a year-long waitlist. My primary concern stems from a severe, persistent toothache. From my very first visit about this pain, one dentist repeatedly assured me there was nothing wrong with the tooth I was complaining about, despite my ongoing discomfort. This led me to seek a second opinion from my family doctor, who confirmed it was indeed a dental issue and prescribed pain medication in the meantime. Despite my continued pain, during subsequent appointments (that I requested because of the tooth ache), the dentist recommended and performed expensive "optional" small filling restorations that didn't address the main problem. Finally, after multiple visits, my tooth unfortunately broke. It was only then, roughly six months after my initial complaint, that a different dentist at the same clinic finally diagnosed the real issue: an underlying infection and a dying tooth. I was then prescribed antibiotics and referred to a very expensive endodontist, as the clinic wasn't comfortable performing the necessary root canal themselves. My specialist later confirmed that the signs of my tooth dying were clear and should have been identified much earlier.

Fantastic experience: The best dental clinic I've experienced. I've been with them for a few years now and each visit has been a positive experience. I had Diane clean my teeth and she was amazing. My teeth have never felt so clean. She was also very considerate of what my insurance may or may not cover. I felt no pressure to take treatment that I didn't know if I could afford right then. I was later provided with an estimate and time to contact my insurance company. Thanks Diane for your care and compassion.

Negative experience: Messed up my boyfriends teeth qouted him over 5k, didn't call his insurance or the person he was on insurance with, made him sign a paper, ripped three teeth out and lied about it (they could've been fixed) disgusting. And one this also, dentist are failed doctors, why are they even allowed to work on teeth surgically if they failed a surgical assessment. Money grab for sure.

Negative experience: Apparently, if you don't get yoyr teeth clean, ypu get bad credit? Are you serious? Never recommend this company.

Negative experience: Please do not go there for any adjustments after the filling with a different dentist.The other dentist will just look into the adjustment for the sake of it and do some weird adjustments which you didn't even point out in first place. Eventually you have to wait for the dentist who worked on your tooth. Also, the other dentist will try to make you understand that wait for couple of months and come back again, so we can do the x-ray again and additional procedures. Makes you wonder if it is a money making scheme

Negative experience: Do not go here! I came in to get a tooth chip fixed they couldn’t get an xray after four tries and they then rushed me out after breaking a separate tooth with out fixing either and asked me to come back next week!

Fantastic experience: I called this office as I had heard they would take dementia patients. When I called they were friendly and efficient. I mentioned dementia and no problem. When we came for the appointment the office was bright and very well equipped and the people were friendly .Unfortunately my wife , the Alzheimer’s victim, was not able to cooperate with the person taking X-rays. So the technician called for a dr. The dr was able to check Susan’s teeth using a small mirror and a lot of calm authority. Unfortunately we could not get my wife to allow the dentist to work . After taking a good half hour for two people they told me they could not help, gave me excellent advice and free oral antibiotics and refused to charge for anything. These people made my day. They tried their serious best, were professional and very kind and refused payment for their time. A very good place to go

Fantastic experience: Everyone at this dental centre is awesome. The receptionists are really nice, and never seem like they are rushing you. I saw Dr. Peters for a few tooth extractions and he was so nice, caring and thorough in his work. Alice, his assistant was very nice too. He even took care of sending a referral to an oral surgeon for a follow up procedure I need. I felt so comfortable and at ease here. They really do put your comfort first. I very highly recommend this place.

Negative experience: Feel absolutely ripped off. Came in for a cleaning at 12, hygienist didn't show up till 12:10 and called it quits at 12:55. Probably a total of 35 minutes of actual cleaning done. Was told I would need to book 2 more visits, very un welcoming, stabbed me I'm the lip multiple times because she wasn't looking at what she was doing. Felt rushed to get me out of there. 200 dollars later and I have 6 teeth cleaned.

Negative experience: Linda the receptionist was not polite when I asked how much the initial exam would be. She was impatient and hanged up the phone on me.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at this clinic. Staff is friendly and my dentist Dr. Fisch is very punctual. I am super anxious at the dentist and Dr. Fisch and her assistant were excellent. I hate the dam they put on me during fillings, but the assistant was so fast and skillful in placing it that did not bother me at all. I highly recommend this place!

Negative experience: That didnt last long...they milk you for every penny through system. I didnt appreciate the accountant asking me a specific question that was NONE of her buisiness. NOW my kid doesnt want to go back and neither do i!! My bill was only supposed to be under 100 today and it jumped to 800. Need to find a good dentist that wont rip off families.

Negative experience: ONE STAR is BOLD They tried billing my family 6x the amount they quoted over the phone..THEN tried "back peddling" & charged SEVENTEEN TIMES the amount of original billing quote!!! If you want extra unconstitutional work done on your children? Go here!!! How is this dentist office still running? How do they sleep at night knowing they are wrongfully putting children through unnecessary "work"!!

Fantastic experience: Such an amazing, quick, and wonderful experience!! I called for an appointment, and as a result of a cancellation, was able to get booked that same day! The receptionists Jo and Kelly were very very kind, extremely helpful, and left me with such a positive impression. From now on this dentist's office will be my go-to. My dentists were very reassuring, and I could tell that they prioritized the comfort of their patients. Thank you very much for such a positive visit!! :)

Negative experience: This has been my dentist for over a decade. I’ve taken my whole family. I’m now been told they don’t have room do me in their appointments for over a year.

Negative experience: After going to this place for a decade with my family, I will never come back here ever again. The receptionist book my fianceè an appointment for a check and a clean up for July 11th on her birthday only for her to show up and told that it was booked at a wrong time. They then proceeded on being extremely rude and told us the earliest they can book her is 2024 which is absurd. I don't usually write reviews but If you don't want to get treated badly at an establishment, try to avoid going to this dental practice.

Negative experience: I needed a new dentist and I went in for my first cleaning appointment. It went fine until the end. When it was time to make another appointment for a cleaning the soonest they could get me in was 12 months to the day I went in. I find that completely ridiculous. I will be looking for another dentist.

Fantastic experience: Wonderfully organized first visit. They managed to get me in for a full exam, xrays and cleaning. This office is big, so cancellations happen and I was able to get in early. Super streamlined system, multiple administrators at the front who helped me and each other. Rachel the hygienist was great and so was the girl in the figs with the glasses who took my xrays. Dentist was nice and was informative without selling. They direct billed my insurance and had me in and out pretty fast. They couldn't book me in until January (instead of sept for six months) but I firmly believe that I will get in around September just due to their cancellation list. Super convenient in hillside mall (by the canadian tire). Happy that they are my new dentist.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jackie Romeyn is amazing and I'm so grateful for her expertise. I was very nervous to get my first root canal and Dr. Romeyn talked me through the whole procedure and made sure I was comfortable. I felt no pain and if you have to get a root canal I highly recommend Hillside Dental's Dr. Jackie Romeyn.

Positive experience: My second appointment and I'm impressed with the quality of service to this point. Dental care is so important to me as a regular 2-4 monthly service. So far....this dental practice is highly rated by me.

Fantastic experience: I went on for two crown replacements. From the first moment, I was greeted very warmly and enthusiastically. I really appreciated the dental assistant outgoing and communicative manner. I normally have high anxiety with dental treatment. I needed NO sedation whatsoever for my visit. They were also happy to use ephedrine free freezing. The dentist explained in detail each step so I knew what to expect. She was also very caring and kept asking if I was comfortable during each step of the procedure! She had to step away and even assured me "We won't forget about you, hang tight". I was very impressed. Later after the freezing wore off, there was minimal discomfort! Thanks Hillside Dental for terrific service!!

Fantastic experience: I had a terrific experience at Hillside Dental from the moment I arrived at their door right through to my departure. The level of customer service is excellent. The quality of care is equally top notch. My dental hygienist was so professional, incredibly thorough and so kind and gentle. I can't believe how much brigther my smile is today! Thank you, too, Dr. Noh for the straight forward assessment and friendly bedside manner. This is one of the best dental offices I've ever visited. No fear no more!

Fantastic experience: I have overwhelming dental anxiety due to allergies. When you can't breathe well, you panic. Everyone at this place was amazing and calming. They no longer offer anesthetic procedures, so I am dissappointed that I will not be getting my work completed there. However they were amazing at making sure to refer me to the right resource.

It was my first dental visit in Victoria and I got to say it was a wonderful experience. The dentist (Dr. JP) I saw was very humble and polite. The front desk service was amazing. Negative experience: I started to have pain after the filling that they did a week ago. My inner cheek was scraped by their tools and I just felt it after the anesthesia was gone. It got infected and I tried to call them after few days and they did not want to let me in right away because my dentist was on holidays. They just prescribed antibiotics for me to take and booked me after few days. I was suffering a lot and didn’t even go to work because my face got swollen and I couldn’t eat also. When I went back to the clinic and saw a different doctor, he said that the pain from the inner cheek was part of the process of how they did the filling last time. And that’s the answer you will give me for the pain that I experienced?

Fantastic experience: Hillside dental Center is a place I’ve been going back to now for many years. Why ? The moment you come in your are warmly welcomed by one of many secretaries, they are efficient, prompt and know well what their doing. I’ve been attached to Dr Harbeck as my main dentist. Dr Harbeck turns out to be the best dentist I’ve ever had in my life. When she was not available other substitutes of the Center have always been as personable and as professional. Even for the cleaning sessions, the staff even though not always the same person, have been constantly thorough and pleasant. In essence what if feel is that every one there wants you to feel COMFORTABLE and relaxed. The premises are spotless, modernized and the art in the cubicles is appropriately chosen to relax you. Indeed that’s how I feel. Now I’ve recommended this clinic to my daughter and her 2 young children. They are all as satisfied as I am. Specifically Dr Harbeck has an extremely gentle touch which totally removes all sense of fear and pain. As far as it might sound strange, going for an appointment for work to be done, I look forward to it.

Fantastic experience: Awesome place - would recommend! They are organized and responsive and friendly. I like that the office is located in the mall and it’s a fairly nice space. Though there aren’t enclosed rooms, I felt there was enough privacy and I appreciated that there were ceiling TVs to keep me distracted during my visit. I had been avoiding the dentist for years, because my teeth are sensitive and I have a lot of anxiety. The hygienist and dentist were both friendly and gentle and gave some good advice about managing my teeth and using fluoride to help with sensitivity issues. When it came time to get it paid for, they were good about coordinating my benefits coverage and providing plenty of information.

Negative experience: I booked time from work today to attend appointment I book in October and they canceled my appointment without telling me . Whoever cancel my appointment said I am in quarantine when I have finish my quarantine a week ago . The girl at the reception keeps saying you don’t have appointment after showering her my prove she was like oh your appointment has been canceled. She was just acting as if it’s normal for that to happen and she can book me a new date . I was like it’s ok . I would have given zero if there is zero star . Poor communication amongst stuff and client.

Negative experience: Do not go here!!! I had the most agressive and damaging cleaning Ive ever had! Returned for a couple fillings and was not warned of the side effects from the freezing they were giving me. Nor did they warn me that the freezing was carcinogenic to Human Beings. They did the fillings and stuck a needle in my gums 3 times with this poison mixture. Afterwards I felt so high, confused, tired, dizzy, nervous, huge headache etc! I asked the dentist why I felt so messed up and that I didn’t feel safe driving myself home and was concerned for my well being and other drivers on the road. He said thats strange theres no side effects from the freezing and i can sit in the waiting room for awhile. I asked to see the Safety Data Sheets on the chemicals they just injected into my face which went straight to my brain. The ingredients clearly states that they were Carcinogenic to Human Beings and another had Narcotic Effects and a list of adverse side effects that I was feeling. The dentists and staff didn’t feel the need to warn me of the risks of taking the toxic chemicals which they called” regular freezing”. They also didnt tell me of a 50$ charge for a missed appointment the week before and snuck it into my bill without ever telling me.

Fantastic experience: We recently moved to Victoria and I can't say enough good things about this dental office. Amazing Covid-safety measures, THE FRIENDLIEST staff, a female dentist (LOVE), and the loveliest hygienist. It was my preschooler's first time at the dentist and they were so awesome with her, she keeps asking when she gets to go back! My 10-year-old's teeth have never been whiter. I'm so impressed and we feel really lucky to have landed in their care.

Fantastic experience: Hillside Dental staff are always cheerful, courteous and professional. There were no delays, my visit was as short as possible. Pandemic protocols were in place. I felt as safe as can be expected in the circumstances.

Fantastic experience: Hillside Dental is a group of very caring people. You never wait more than 5 minutes to get in and everyone is always friendly when helping you book your next appointments, billing, etc. They are taking the best precautions for COIVD, so you never have to worry.

Fantastic experience: Before going to Hillside Dental, going to the dentist was a nightmare for me, physically and financially. Dr. Guan is amazing. I have a very sensitive jaw and it is hard for me to open wide for long periods of time, so she lets me rest my jaw and only operates for shorter sessions. I have never experienced such care from a dentist before. She also calls to check in if anything goes a bit wrong with my jaw! I am sure the other staff are just as caring. In addition to the genuine concerns they have for their patients, I have never felt pressured to pay for something that I do not want or cannot afford right away. They do not judge you like other dentists. One of the reasons my mom never took me to the dentist is because she knew that if she did, the dentist would pressure her into buying another procedure. She simply could not afford it unfortunately. With that said, they still encourage you to get procedures, but only because they truly care about saving your teeth. everything they suggest is necessary, and they operate in order of severity, so the small procedures can wait while the big ones get done and paid for. I will never go to any other dentist! I highly recommend Hillside Dental.

Fantastic experience: Hillside Dental Centre was right on top of the safety protocols due to Covid-19. Everything in the waiting area was sanitized where patients were asked to complete a form regarding any exposure to Covid-19, travel, etc. Limited number of patients allowed in the waiting area, and your temperature is taken before you are taken into to the back. Hygienists and all working at the dental centre are wearing masks and I also noticed many also had face shields on. Lots of hand sanitizers around. Staff, my hygienist, Jen, and the dentist were all professional, courteous, and pleasant. Going to the dentist is not my most favourite pastime, however it was an altogether positive experience.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Harbeck for the past year or so, and we've found her very kind and accommodating. So when i recently had a filing chip she was obviously my go-to. Everyone in the office - reception to assistants to Dr. Harbeck - have all been so nice. Would really recommend this office, and in particular this doctor.
