Fantastic experience: Appointments are always on time and waking involved, always called by name and treated very well. Every intended procedure is explained in detail and questions are answered respectfully. This is the second time they have gone up against insurance, not covering something and worked it out for me. Fantastic experience: I recently became a new patient at Altima Dental who fortunately for many Seniors was one of the dental practices who signed onto the Seniors Dental Plan and is providing a remarkable service. Athough I was aware of their excellent reputation via my son who is a long time patient, I cannot express how impressed I was following my visit. Literally, every single aspect of my visit was handled in a knowledgeable, professional and very personable manner - from reception to hygienists Megan and Joanne and Dr. Chater who thoroughly explained and expedited my treatment plan. Negative experience: Originally posted December 2019: Staff demonstrated a lack of professionalism and basic competence. The overall experience suggested inadequate training and poor operational standards. Update October 20, 2021: Customer service significantly worsened. My appointment was double booked, then cancelled at the last minute, with no timely corrective action taken. When the issue was raised, staff provided inaccurate and misleading explanations instead of taking responsibility. My time was wasted, and no apology was offered. Based on repeated negative experiences, I would not recommend this dental office. Kingston residents would be better served seeking care elsewhere. *Note: I had particularly concerning interactions with a front desk staff member named Michelle, whose conduct was unprofessional, dismissive, and escalated an already difficult situation.

Fantastic experience: It just could not have been better. Zero dicomfort..absolutely perfect. I had 3 extractions done and didnt even realize it was done.

Negative experience: Here's the thing until about 5 years ago I loved this dentist office. I joined in 2013 my 1st dentist left and then I get dr chater and we clicked found a rhythm and fixed 15 years of damage and fear . From minor filling to 4 impacted wisdom teeth it was smooth sailing I swore by this clinic and recommended then to everyone. And just before covid hit Jan 2020 we did a root canal on a bottom back moral everything went great until the numbness didn't go away . After a day I called and said I'm still numb I can't feel my gums or tongue I get told to wait a few days . Then the end of days hit everything is shut down and a kinda numb mouth doesn't seem like much . A few months later I get to go back they xray see a small abscess in the gums coming us the back tooth then drain it a bit less pressure but decide to send me to a specialist ( I'd like to point out at this point I still liked my dentist and the clinic helped hitting the nerve was just blind luck ) it too 4 months for the specialist to actually see me and I get told they can't do anything outside of major surgery to restore the feeling in the nerve , that using local in bottom teeth especially the back is a blind shot for needle placement and occasionally this leads to my problem but it has no effect on speech and mild effects of ability to taste ( all true ) . They recommend pulling the tooth to remove any further pain and complications from it and I gladly run but to my favorite dentist for this I was happy for the pain to be over after months. As I was sitting in the chair I realized I was terrified to have surgery again but the pain was so great I gave in and hate it done it all went smoothly and I knew I made the right choice to go back to this clinic. Then came time for my next cleaning and I was so nervous I threw up before hand , the delayed the next and the next . Finally I spoke with a hygienist you told me we could wait until I felt safe that I should work on feeling safe and come in when I was ready . Them came life and moving and somehow more then 2 years goes by thanks to stress and many deaths and I call on after falling and hitting my jaw . That fall lead to my 2013 filling falling out . Leaving me in slow growing agony So I call my on a Saturday and get told she's left a note and they will call me with and appt times on mon Finally mostly do to pain I call this afternoon ( Tues) and get told I'm no longer a patient because it's been over 2 years ( had a note on my file appapparently but the weekend secretary didn't tell me so I lost even more time I could have looked for other options ) noone though the potential to inform me I would lose my dentist or to be compassionate about extreme distress due to Dr . Error . I still have to upmost respect for Dr chater it wasn't something he necessarily did wrong but they lack of compassion from the front staff over something ultimately cause by this clinic and being told to just find a knew dentist ( as if that's easy when low income with little coverage ) is down right despicable treatment of clients. The 2nd star is purely for the dental staff they are top of the line .

Fantastic experience: Been forever since I've been to see the dentist my teeth were and are pretty messed up but my hygienist anna was amazing and did an incredible clean and the dentist is gonna feel the cavities he can and unfortunately have a couple teeth to be pulled but they also showed me some programs to possibly help pay towards dentures all in all great experience

Usually, you don’t get much time to actually interact with the dentist—maybe a brief moment to ask questions, if that. But my experience at Altima Dental Care in Kingston was completely different. I left with no questions unanswered and, more importantly, feeling incredibly validated and understood. The dentist was so down-to-earth and approachable, and the dental assistant was absolutely lovely—easy to talk to, patient, and just as kind. They both made me feel comfortable, respected, and well cared for. They even took the time to talk with me about my kids, answering my questions and helping me get them cared for as well. It felt like they genuinely cared—not just about me, but about my family too. I left feeling fresh, clean, and absolutely like a respected and heard human being. Positive experience: Great clinic and wonderful staff. Unfortunately, it's way too difficult to get an appointment here. You have to book at least a month in advance. have a new dentist who sees people within a week or two. If this clinic hires more dentists, I'll be glad to come back.

Fantastic experience: I haven’t been to a dentist in 7+ years because mine retired and I have a FEAR of them. I recently lost a tooth and needed to been seen asap! Dr. Chater’s team worked quick and effectively. Dr. Chater was wonderful, very matter a fact and truly made me feel extremely comfortable! Very thankful Altima clinic was recommend.

Fantastic experience: Consistently great service from this team. I have complex disability and Dr. Chater consistently remembers without me needing to remind him, something that almost never happens in other settings. Has offered to stay a bit late so I can make it after work. Never tries to push services that would cost money. Both my spouse and I agree that Dr. Chater is one of the best dentists either of us have had. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: As with every time I have visited Altima Dental, I was treated very well. There was no long wait time. Since the hygienist was away, Dr. Chater, not only did my checkup, but he did my cleaning, as well. He’s always friendly, attentive and thorough. Going to the dentist isn’t a favourite activity for a lot of people, but going to this dental clinic can make everyone’s experience, so much more enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: Was a very pleasant visit from the moment we walked in the door. Reception was amazing and extremely helpful. Dental hygienist was super friendly. It's been awhile since we have been due to no benefit until recently. We explained this and not once did they make us feel less than. Just told us no worries, we will get everything cleaned and done. My son enjoyed both his hygienist and the dentist.

He always tells you exactly what to expect and walks you through it whether you're an adult or a child. The dental hygienists and receptionists are also very nice and great at their jobs.

Negative experience: I called Altima this morning and was greeted by the rudest receptionist I have ever encountered. I definately will deter my family and friends for giving even one penny to this dental office that is so abusive to potential clients on the phone. It's the last thing one needs to deal with while suffering dental pain. She need to be retrained.

Negative experience: Don't even want to give one star but have to in order to write this review. Altima is the worst dentist in kingston. They discriminated against my autistic step son today, and discharged him from their office. Absolutely disgusting. I myself had terrible experiences there and refused to go back but to do something like this?? WOW

Negative experience: The dentist chipped my bottom front tooth removing my wisdom teeth in the back of my mouth, as well as a lot of turn over at the clinic, having you book months in advance for cleaning to tell you to wait another 4 months a week before your original appointment.

Negative experience: Horrible the receptionist is super disrespectful and super rude. In january I went to Altima for a cleaning the woman who did the cleaning had told me that the dentist would call me if I had a cavity or not later about a week they told me I did not have a cavity around 6 months later I had to get my teeth cleaned and they called me a day before saying they are going to cancel my cleaning appointment beacause apperently I had 2 Cavities I was very confused because they had told me that I did not have a cavity and sudenly 1 day before my appointment they tell me I have 2 cavities like what? Please dont ever go to this place they try and take youre money and fake diagnose and the people are soooo rude

Fantastic experience: The staff here are very professional and friendly, sense of urgency. I had toothache and swelling just couple days before regular clean, it was on Saturday, dentist was not available. They did X-Ray and other checks and sent info to dentist right away at home, I could get antibiotic on time to treat infection. Thanks a lot!

Fantastic experience: I had a 3 hour window, so I dropped in to see if Doc Chater could look at a tooth, the staff was great and Yes Doc took the time to take a look, we set up an appointment and I was out in less than 15 minutes. Negative experience: Everything was amazing and we still forgave them for pulling the wrong tooth for my 10 years old, but it's the way they treated us in the end that brought down the rating to one star. Very bad patient, or should I say customer service experience. Interesting enough, they are saying they have had bad experience with us. I guess it was because we filed a complaint with their head office when they refused to take ownership of the mistake of pulling the wrong tooth.

Fantastic experience: Best office in all of Kingston, not just for dental but out of any healthcare related office I’ve been in. Every single person here is incredibly caring and beyond amazing at what they do. It is nothing but comfortable when you’re in the waiting room and everyone is supportive when you’re in the office getting your teeth worked on. If you have dental anxiety, this is the place to be.
