Negative experience: The product would actually work if it were comfortable to wear all day and enable you to speak properly. I think the technology is great, but it is impossible to wear the aligners during the day as you are in pain and speak like you are incapacitated. That being said, if you wear the aligners only when off work, you will not see any results. I was really hopeful with this course of treatment. Piece of advice, if you have the capacity to go in an office for your prints, don’t use the home kit, the aligners are off and do t fit your teeth.
Negative experience: My experience with Smile Club Direct has been far from satisfactory, and several red flags have made me question the legitimacy of this orthodontic service. To begin with, the lack of a physical office and their choice to rent a small room in a co-working space raises immediate concerns. This absence of a proper clinic environment should serve as a warning sign to potential customers, suggesting a lack of commitment to professional standards. The first indication of trouble came when Smile Club Direct called to cancel and reschedule my appointment, citing computer problems. This left me skeptical about their organizational capabilities. To compound the issue, I received a confusing call on the day of my original appointment, asking about my whereabouts despite their earlier cancellation and rescheduling. Adding to the questionable nature of my experience was an email from someone named "Queen," a name that seems more like a pseudonym than an actual professional. Despite her friendly demeanor, it is troubling to learn that she is not a doctor but, at best, a hygienist. The role of being charismatic and charming seems to be a strategic move to facilitate the sale of their orthodontic product. One major concern is Queen's assertion that after the initial visit, customers will never see a doctor again. Instead, updates and adjustments will be managed through photo submissions. This is a significant deviation from the standard practice in orthodontic care, where close monitoring by a qualified professional is expected, especially considering the profound impact that orthodontic treatments can have on facial bone structure. Furthermore, the claim that Smile Club Direct is as effective as Invisalign is simply false. Invisalign is a reputable brand with a proven track record, while Smile Club Direct's significantly lower prices suggest a potential compromise in quality. In an alarming development, it has come to my attention that SmileDirectClub, the parent company of Smile Club Direct, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This financial instability raises serious concerns about the long-term viability and reliability of their services. Moreover, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) has filed complaints with 36 state dental boards, alleging that SmileDirectClub violates regulatory standards. This further underscores the questionable practices and potential risks associated with choosing Smile Club Direct for orthodontic treatment. In conclusion, my impression of Smile Club Direct is that it operates more like a franchise-focused, cost-cutting venture than a legitimate orthodontic service. I strongly advise potential customers to approach this company with caution and carefully consider the risks associated with their unorthodox practices, financial instability, and regulatory challenges.

Negative experience: Guys save yourself and don’t waste your money and time, yesterday I was 5min late cause I couldn’t find a parking, the guy called me and was super rude and he hand up the phone violently!!!! Negative experience: KEEP YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!! Years of aligners landed me with a painful bite that doesn’t line up, gum recession. It will cost me far more to repair the damage done after using these aligners. And no customer service whatsoever, online agents leaving chat mid conversation, phone calls being “dropped due to technical difficulty”. The reply is always “someone will reach out to you in 7-10 business days” but it never happens. Stay away.

Negative experience: This review is just for the initial consultation -- Afyah was great and informative, and super efficient with doing the imaging/pictures. She also explained everything to me about the process and payment options. I would highly recommend coming to the office for a consult if you're hesitant -- they don't pressure you, and you can tweak / change /cancel the plan afterward if need be. Thanks again, Afyah! Fantastic experience: I had a great experience i started and im finally done and my toothth look wonderful for someone who forgets to wear there braces often after eating they were very carring and offer as many scan and new braces to make sure i get what i paid for . its a processe we are dealing with tooths ! Negative experience: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Go to a real orthodontist who cares about you as an individual don't fall prey to the psychopaths who run this scam. They don't have your best interests in mind, they don't care about your history, they are trying to make a profit. Seriously despicable people, you guys should be in jail for posing as professionals. This company is all lies don't trust anything they say. They have made my treatment a nightmare I have to continuously call them just to get what I paid for as if I'm in court. Negative experience: 0 stars Terrible customer service. They bounce you around from "specialist" to "specialist". The aligners barely fit... they flare out and you cut your tongue on them. I asked for an aligner touch-up because aligner #7 did not even come close to fitting and they sent me a set that fit even LESS than the original one. I tried contacting them about it to get me another set and they kept trying to have me wear them??? Then, they repeatedly ask for pictures to prove they don't fit... I don't know how many times I submitted those pictures but they obviously have not looked at them. Overall a giant waste of money. I should've listened to those other reviews because they were absolutely right. PLEASE consult with an actual orthodontist. ***AVOID AT ALL COST***

Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if I could. Yesterday I saw my dentist for my check up/cleaning. Turns out Smile Direct is not a reputable company. They say they have orthodontists that create your program for you—but WHERE are they? They obviously send your info outside on Canada & have the program created outside of regulations and guidelines within Canada. Smile direct not only has false advertising but turns out I now have to have surgery to fix the damage it caused on my teeth & gums. They progress the movements of your teeth too quickly, causing gums to recede and teeth to become loose. I followed instructions EXTREMELY carefully & now have to pay thousands of dollars to fix the issues smile direct aligners created. I am extremely disappointed; not only is this company extremely careless but the advertising targets lower income folks. Pretty disgusting I have started a file to be reimbursed and if the company can’t be accountable I’ll be pursuing a lawsuit

Negative experience: Seems like a SCAM before I even went. I had an appointment scheduled for May 13th but realized I had another appointment that day for something. I wrote them May 6th (yesterday), a week before to cancel the free consultation. As it was MORE than 24 hours there is to be NO cancelation fee. They sent me 2 emails stating I wrote them 2 inquiries with 2 different reference numbers when I wrote them them once and finally an email confirming the cancelation. I wake up today and receive a text message and email telling me that I MISSED my appointment!! How can I miss my appointment on May 13th when it's a week away?? I have screenshots of my cancelation and emails of the appointment day. If there is any money taken off my card, I will be reporting them as fraud. Avoid this place and go to a real dentist's office where it's more organized and you don't have have to worry about this.

Fantastic experience: Kind of hard to find once you get into the second floor, I had to ask the barista at the coffee counter. Queen was great and offered a very quick, and kind service. She was amazing! I was in and out within 15 minutes.

Negative experience: Do not recommend at all, save your money! I only had ONE in person visit (the original consult) and any follow ups were done via sending photos of any progress. The aligner quality is absolutely terrible and break constantly or snap (you’re only wearing set of aligners for maximum 2 weeks, so surprised by how often they would break). The customer service is terrible, they do not accurately update your record when you call or email and keep sending the same template email in response. They also do not have a full refund for unsatisfactory results (full refund only applies in the first 30 days), my teeth did not move at all and I was completely unsatisfied with the results, given I wore the aligners for 22 hours a day for 5 months. I got around 90% refund, but only after I contacted them and followed up for 4 months. I would never recommend this company. Save your money and go elsewhere or invest in a more expensive quality product.

Negative experience: Sharing my experience after almost 4 years with SDC. Does it work : yes - kind of. But don't expect the results you would get with a real treatment like Invisalign. You obviously get what you pay for. The people you'll talk to at their weird Montreal office (coworking space lol) are the only contact you will ever get with a real person, but be aware they are not even dental experts of any kind. Consider also that you'll have to wear retainers for the rest of your life, that could be annoying because of the cost of these (+/-120$ every 6 month) and you'll have to carry those always around you. I can guarantee you'll get frustrating experience when traveling/moving around and forgetting your retainers. Even after a few years, teeth are going back pretty quickly (one night without retainer is enough). And above everything, consider that customer care is the worst... I waited weeks to get an email answer that I'm still waiting for. If you rather call them, be prepared for hours of wait. It's been 2 weeks I'm trying to get retainers and no one is replying anywhere. In short, you better spend more with a real dentist, or to be well prepared for a frustrating experience.

Negative experience: One of the worst experiences to date. Communications are lacking, and at times I don't hear back. Changes in pricing without any notice, and I've had to re-buy my retainers 4 times as it didn't work. I now have too much space on my top teeth, and the bottom is still crowded. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money on this.

Negative experience: Loved my experience in the Montreal SmileShop, Tina is AMAZING! The 3D scan was so much easier than the impression kit. Can’t wait to see the end result and my new smile Update: They are only nice so you can post a good review. When your case gets a little more complex to treat, they start ignoring you. Tina mysteriously stopped working there. They sent me emails to sign yet another contract and pay more which I didn’t sign and I in turn stopped answering them. I am currently with Invisalign. They are way more professional and the treatment is so much better

Negative experience: A nightmare when it is time to make retouchs and there is always retouchs! You need to get an approuval from them…I was approuved for a first retouch but they didn’t arrange the problem, just a pure waiste of time so i asked for another one to try to finally resolve the issue and they refuse my retouch, without telling me, knowing my teeth are still croocked and my upper teeth are not align with lower teeth…I had to call many times and now I am asking for a refund! They don’t respect there contract, obviously, the lifetime garantee is a joke for any reason they will keep you waiting to finally refuse unjustifiably. Sadly, I paid in full so I can’t stop my payments! I now have to make a lawsuit…

Fantastic experience: I really like how friendly the staff are! They welcomed me to their office and explained the whole process really well. It was Queen who was in charge of taking care of me and she was super kind and understanding. The whole thing passed really quickly. I came in waited for 5 min, got the 3D scan and was done the next 10 min. I recommend trying their service and I can't wait to get my aligners once my evaluation has been assessed :)
Negative experience: FRAUD !! I went in for a consultation at the montreal center and booked online. Was asked to provide a credit card insase I cancel and would be charge 20$ if I do. Woke up to 2700$ charge on my credit card. Called to cancel and they said I signed the waiver. I asked for a copy of the waiver and it was signed by someone at the center . Their now telling it will take 7 days for someone to call me back !! Do not deal with this company

Negative experience: Worst experience ever, they said it would take 6months it took 2 years and when i was at my last adjustement, they messed up something in the admin and made me wait for 7 months for the aligners and my teeth moved back to what it was before treatment in the meantime because they expect you to keep wearing the same last aligner which is completely disgusting. i called them atleast 7 times and they were never able to fix it. Worst customer service ever because they hire people in south africa, costa rica, philipines and they dont care or dont know how to use the system/not trained well and so i spend lots of time calling them and never get a resolution and find myself calling them again and having to rexplain everything every single time without anything getting done which very much feels like a scam for the unlimited adjustments. Also it takes so long to receive the adjustment alogners like a full month and more and its for less than three months so you have to redo this every time because the timeline they give you at the beginning is completely innacuraye. Dont waste your time and money...

Negative experience: I started out with high hopes with SmileDirect. They were good with answering my questions and concerns during my treatment. However, after about my 8th touch-up! my teeth are still not straight. After receiving an email back from one of the reps here, they said that my teeth cannot move anymore and they cannot do anymore touch-ups, and suggested I purchase my retainer. My teeth are better than they were prior to starting my journey, however, I found they really just brushed me off after a couple touch - up requests. Pretty much said, this is the best we can do, now spend more money on a retainer to keep a smile that isn't 100%. I will now have to book an appointment with an orthodontist as there is still movement to be done. Not very happy with overall results.

Negative experience: The place is cool and the staff is nice but this is really not worth what follows... The first time I contacted SmileDirectClub because they charged me more than I had signed for and they didn't include the retainers in the price, it took 2 weeks to get an answer. They provided the answer but not what they said they would do. So, I "finished" the treatment plan on October 28, 2022 and still didn't receive the retainers. But that's the least of my problems as my teeth didn't move. In fact, some teeth did random moves but the underbite it was mainly supposed to correct didn't. Not surprising as the bottom aligners were ill-fitted. There was only one "follow-up" at around two third of the treatment. Basically, someone looked - or didn't - at the pictures I sent and replied that I was on track. No news, no follow-up since then even if the treatment is supposedly completed. I sent an email around a week ago to say that I was not satisfied and didn't receive a reply.

Negative experience: STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!! I have no idea how this "company" has so many positive reviews, I'm convinced that the majority of them must be fake. After looking online for a company or orthodontist that could help with straightening my relatively mild case of overbite and slightly unaligned teeth, I came across Smile Direct Club. I was already skeptical at first, but I liked the idea of getting custom aligners delivered to my home to fix my dental issue, and their price was very low compared to others (about half the price). It was written on the website that the initial appointment for scanning the teeth and getting more information was completely free, so I figured, why not? So let me tell you why not.. I get to their office, which is already weird, located in a small suite in a co-working area. There was only 2 very young employees working (I'm young myself and have nothing against it, but it was odd), one at tiny reception cubicle and one in the small scanning cubicle. They seemed disingenuous from the get-go. So as we're about to start the scan, the guy starts explaining what it consists of (honestly, zero information more than on the website.. you get a bunch of aligners that you're supposed to change every so often, for 4-6 months total, 22 hours a day) and then quickly mentions that we're gonna have to choose a payment option right away as once they send the scans to their "headquarters" and you get approved, they automatically charge you the full treatment cost (or the monthly charges). I asked politely if it would be possible to first see if I was approved and then think about before actually committing to the treatment, and the guy started getting very frustrated at this simple question. He said that it was company policy, that they have dentists to pay, and that if I don't like it I can leave. I was honestly very surprised at the defensive reaction, but I continued on saying that I was genuinely interested in the treatment, however I would prefer to first know if their aligners can help my dental situation and that I prefer to have time to think over a purchase that costs almost 3000$. I was calm and polite throughout, but the guy was clearly offended and said worst case we can reschedule for another time when I'll be ready. I answered that this "solution" didn't solve any of my concerns, and after an awkward silence, I just left. I wasted 40 minutes in each direction for this 10 minute "free consultation", and I felt totally scammed. It just smelled of fraudulent activity. Every red flag possible went up for me during this visit. What other company offers you a free estimation or quote or consultation, but secretly forces you to purchase the product if you actually go through with it??! I honestly can't rate their product, as I never received one, but even if it did work, how can they treat their customers as though they are stupid? How can they expect ANY level of trust with a business approach like that? I'm amazed they are still operating. I would give them 0 stars or even negative stars for the experience. And as a cherry on top, I get a message later the same day, saying that I missed my appointment, and that there is a cancellation fee. The audacity of these people! I was fuming, and after figuring out their confusing text message communication system, I contacted an actual human who said that it was marked as cancelled in their system and not missed, and that I should not get charged. I'm gonna be checking my credit card statements very carefully as I do not believe anything this company says. Please, for the love of your own self-respect and health, DO NOT purchase the treatment from Smile Direct Club. Go to your dentist or orthodontist and ask for a legitimate treatment that is safe and trustworthy. It's very expensive, I know.. Too expensive in my honest opinion, and I would have gladly paid half the cost. However this is a matter of health and of not getting defrauded by this sketchy company. You have been warned! Negative experience: Although I am having a problem with the product, they are bad . We went to fix the problem and they forgot about us for 2 months. They only care about the reviews to be good and encourage you to change it but in real life they don't solve the problem. My wife called 2 months after the meeting and we wear forgotten. My son now stopped the treatment because it was wrong and no one cares until I wrote a bad review then yet they forgot to service us. But all the money was paid. They care about selling brushes and sending you promotional e mails but not the finish line. Hope this helps you to take the right decision and don't fall for it.

Negative experience: I was supposed to have an appointment this saturday but decided not to go a while back. It's really easy to setup your appointment online but they make it very hard for you to cancel! You have to call their customer service who of course is only open on weekdays. And most of the reviews here are all the same and look very fake to me. Just this issue has persuaded me not to continue with this company! Stay away from them at all costs!

Negative experience: TOXIC PLASTIC IN BLOODSTREAM! STAY AWAY!! The retainers contain toxic plastic which enters your bloodstream via the saliva and poisons your endocrine system. Smile Direct Club are lying to the public about this serious health risk. You can find the study by searching the terms "bisphenol a smile direct club". It should be the top Google result, published in the LIDSEN Journal. "Peak BPA concentrations were detected in artificial saliva; Smile Direct Club® produced 5.0 ng/mL after 20 day" This is a major fraud on the public because on their website Smile Direct Club state that "Our aligners are made with BPA-free plastic". If this is true then how it is possible that an independent scientific study has found very high levels of poisonous BPA leaching from the aligners. When I had my consultation I specifically asked if there was any leaching of poisonous plastic chemicals and they said no. This is fraud. They are deceiving the public. I never wore my retainers past week 1 as I did my research and discovered this health risk. I have been asking for a refund for more than 6 months and they just ignore my requests. THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS AND NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. I am now consulting with lawyers about commencing a class action lawsuit for this fraud on the public.

Positive experience: I'm rating the actual correction of my teeth after a year in the night treatment. My teeth are 90% straighter than they were before, so def was worth it. We can't get them at 100% though, even after 1 additional correction for 3 months, because my jaws aren't even (my right side teeth are lower vertically than my left side) and the aligners can't be made that way. Also because of that, my jaws and bite changed. I'm going to have to wear a night retainer for a year, made from a professional, to fix my jaws now. All in all, I don't regret, I think was worth it as my teeth aren't a distraction anymore when I smile, but the fact the processus doesn't take in account jaw and bite issues can create more problems for you. Be sure to be followed by a specialist on the side. My dentist also pointed out that I didn't have a lot of bone mass to even do this program safely, as some bone mass is destroyed as your teeth move. Half way through he actually recommended I wouldn't continue, not to weaken an already weak structure. But I chose to continue, and I'll have bone graft done in a few years if needed. I guess I'm stubborn, but my point is get all the information you need before getting into the program, not to have surprises.

Negative experience: The first appointment was very welcoming but their service is horrible after theY get your $$$. I will Highly discourage people From using their service. I have been following smile direct since my treatment and I have not received any response from them. When I call they gather all the information but during the call they disconnect and never bother to call back. I have been trying to get my treatment continued but their customer service is so horrible I am getting highly frustrated of their service. They charged me $2800 and they dont even bother to call back when you have a question nor they give you a proper response when you call. I will not recommend their services to anyone at all.

Secondly , I was really impressed with the 3 dimensional system they have. I was able to compare my before and after pictures and WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE !! At first the retainers were a little tight but they settled in, and I am getting the results I wanted. I am almost done by whole treatment and I can't wait to get my overall results. Negative experience: Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and customer service oriented, but i hated this experience anyway. I felt rushed through the process. They offer you free things to get you to sign over your information, but they don’t wait for your approval on the treatment plan before they charge you. I had issues with what was showing on my treatment plan (only the front teeth were addressed when I specified that my last molar was something I want adjusted). I called to see if that is a possibility if not I wouldn’t be going through with the treatment. They didn’t show me a revised plan before they charged me. I’ve done an Invisalign consultation prior to this but found it a bit expensive. After this experience I definitely see now what I would be paying for. This is a money grab. I didn’t feel like I could trust this place for a medical treatment, considering I have yet to consult with a medical professional before I was charged $2500.

Negative experience: I usually don't write reviews but the frustration that Smile direct club gave me, I had to write one. You can evaluate the value of a company by its customer service when you are not a potential client anymore and Smile Direct Club were on of the worst customer services. I have been battling with them for the past month and half to get my refund because I did not like their product, they have been dragging the whole process for so long by always giving me the same automated responses. I sent them special instructions about how I want to get my refund, but they did not respect them even though I told them four times by email and by contacting them through live chat. Be wary of this company if you want to try their product and get a refund if you did not like it, you will most likely remove you hair before getting the refund.

Negative experience: Don't waste your time here... you are better off going to a real orthodontist and coughing up the $6,000! They were only willing to do 10% of the work that needs to be done in my mouth! They were literally only going to straighten 6 of my upper teeth and NOTHING in my lower teeth! They also do not take jaw structure or sizing into account when they create the 3D image. They are willing to straighten your teeth but you might end up with a out of balance jaw alignment! The second i saw the minimal amount of work they were willing to do on my teeth, i immediately cancelled my account with them! and they REFUSED to remove my credit card information or actually delete my account with them! They say they cant delete the credit card information due to HIPAA regulations but they NEVER tell you that when they ask you for your credit card information during the consultation in order to create an account with them! They even tell you that they cannot create the account without the credit card on file BUT i never said for sure that i wanted the treatment or not i just wanted a consultation to see what would be done to my teeth in the 3D imaging! Providing your credit card information should be YOUR choice! and they quite literally took that choice for me by giving me an ultimatum saying "if you want us to send you the 3D image through the account we need your credit card or else we cant create the account" THAT IS COERCION!!!!! I have been to consultations before and no one has EVER asked for my credit card information before i was 100% sure i wanted the treatment! They are not 100% transparent with their patients and they require you to give them your credit card information during the consultation!!! NEVER PROVIDE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION WITHOUT DECIDING 100% YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH WITH THE TREATMENT!!! I was coerced into providing my credit card information and they told me i can cancel with them if i choose not to proceed with the treatment but what they don't tell it is that they hold your credit card information hostage and they try to tell you that your account was cancelled yet it is still active on my end... NO if an account is cancelled then it couldn't be visible anymore to ANYONE!!!! that is the whole point of cancelling and account!!!

Although we cannot guarantee a timeline for any orthodontic treatment, as there is no way to predict exactly how fast or slow teeth will move, we do work to achieve optimal results within our protocol. That said, in the event, one is unsatisfied with their results, we offer aligner touch-ups to get them back on track to the smile they desire. It is a completely normal process that most of our customers are eligible for. It allows us to fine-tune the details and concerns our customers have after they have completed their initial treatment.
