Fantastic experience: 2026 Update: I've been coming to City Square Dental since 2016. They've taken care of me and my dental health for years now and their level of care has never wavered. Dr. Arthur Lau has always been very patient-centered and amazing at explaining what he's doing and checking if I'm ok for the next steps. He's very attuned to his patients' needs. On top of the excellent patient care, he's also an excellent dentist. I've never had any issues with his dental work. I feel so lucky to have such an awesome dentist in my corner! Dustin is also still an awesome hygienist! Everything I've already written about him is still very much true! Old Post: Dustin is always on time. He's very professional, efficient, warm, and gentle with my gums! He does a great job with my cleaning. I find the it really easy to goto my appointments here with parking downstairs. Super convenient for me since work is also right across the street!

Negative experience: Terrible experience with this dental office ! They like to do the work then outrageously bill you after ( even with Dental Plan in place!) No up front discussions about what needs to happen with costs involved. Quite shocking really ! They tried to pressure me to agree to the cost of a root canal as I was sitting in the dental chair! Went elsewhere and had a better experience for a much lower cost . Don't go here ! Shop around for a good honest dental office !

Fantastic experience: I have been going to City Square Dental Clinic for over 30 years and I've had nothing but great service. Staff are pleasant and friendly. This year, I unexpectedly needed a crown and they were able to schedule me in without delay. Dr. Lau is amazing and walked me through every step of the process and the installation was a perfect fit with no complications. Also, Brenda is an amazing hygienist and I would highly recommend her. I know I'm well cared for by Brenda. Chair side manners are exceptional.

Fantastic experience: Have been coming to this office for over 25 yrs. Dr. Mawjee was an excellent dentist. Dustin is a great hygienist. They are both gentle people and I don't ever feel like I am rushed out of there. The front desk staff are very happy and courteous as well. Never had any issues with billing or with pre-authorizations before my work has been done. I highly recommend this office

Fantastic experience: I chipped my front tooth on Friday. I was able to call the next morning, and they got me in at 1045AM. The procedure took about half hour. The staff including the dentist was very professional. I left with a better smile than before chipping my tooth.

Negative experience: I went here today and had a horrible experience do not go here I have a small cavity in the corner and they said I needed a root canal & a cap denture when I told them I do not want a cap they said I have to get it and I told the Indian girl receptionist she said have to get it done with a cap I don’t have a choice I told her I have to cancel my appointment she pressuring me to get cap and do not cancel my appointment. I also told them to transfer my exam to my original dentist and the Indian girl told me I suggest you do not go to your other dentist and come to us because we accept insurance I said my original dentist does to all I want is for you to transfer my exam and she said fine and hung up on me she is extremely rude. Also the Indian guy quoted me the root canal told me it will cost $2500 and wouldn’t print me the invoice I had to call multiple times for him to give me the price and the other girl finally emailed me and the quote she email me was only $1700 so why is he telling me it’s $2500 when that’s not the actual price. The two receptionist were extremely rude and if you want them to gauge you for dental work than go here. This office wants you to cap everyone teeth Dr. Ashlee Muise told me I had to get 6 root canals and caps if you want your whole mouth capped they need money that’s why they recommend you capping your whole mouth.

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr. Gill today for the first time and I found her to be friendly, genuine, and professional. I can smile in photos again thanks to her amazing work on my front tooth. Already made my next appointment. I would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit today at City Square Dental and it went really well. Which is surprising because I am extremely anxious about going to the dentist. Thankfully, throughout my appointment I was only ever made to feel comfortable. Dr Muise specifically, was very understanding of my fears and reassured me when I expressed my anxiety. Overall, I left my appointment feeling taken care of and confident to visit again. Additionally, the front desk staff coordinated easily with my insurance providers and clearly laid out the next steps of my dental plan.

Fantastic experience: Dr Howarth is lovely. His demeanor is very kind and compassionate. I went in thinking I had a bunch of cavities post partum but after a very thorough exam, he reassured me that I did not. His assistant was a bit hard to hear when she spoke but she was very sweet and seemed to know what she was doing. I feel in great hands with these two.

The DENTIST introduced herself, knew some things about me already, so we had a nice discussion. She was very thorough and efficient. Made sure I understood all costs and everything before doing the work. It was a pleasant zero-stresss of experience. No surprises — I definitely recommend.

I’ll speak about the hygienist and the dentist in my follow-up observations! Millen, the hygienist was thorough, professional, carefully explained everything and was careful herself! I felt in very good hands with her! Highly recommended! Dr Howarth is an all-star, I immediately felt I could trust him, so calm, professional, so thorough, so careful to explain every thing and asked if I had questions something many in the medical professions never consider! And he is most friendly; this is a person he’s treating is how it feels, which is wonderful and a nice change from feeling as though the patient’s role is just to engender a few hundred smackers! My sweetie and I are very happy we made a change to City Square Dental!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to City Square Dental Centre for over 10 years now. My hygienist is brilliant! Hygiene at the dentist is never fun, but Brenda makes it as gentle as possible. ( I should floss more but that’s my problem!). My dentist Dr Muise is also very clear and straightforward and I’ve always felt safe in her hands. Even for root canals! The place itself is clean and bright and welcoming. I’ll be back!

Negative experience: My wife and I both started to come to CITY SQUARE DENTAL at the same time. In my first visit, I was asked to fill out some paperwork and by the time the dentist was ready for me I wasn't quite done with the paperwork, so I brought it with me into the room where I was under the impression I needed to finish filling it out with my insurance information before the dentist saw me. When Dr Shum came in, the assistant and I were still talking about the paperwork and somehow he chimed in and told me "don't ask me about that kind of stuff I wouldn't know anything about it" .. um ohkay … Mr. important dentist we get it, but I wasn't asking . After my exam I was told that I had a couple of cavities (Which hadn't happened for me in Years) & in my disappointment in myself I said "what? TWO cavities… Oh no…" Dr Shum Made the assumption that I was concerned about the cost of getting them fixed… & quickly told me something to the extent of, we don't have to do them all at once if you can't afford it... Which… OK I get it maybe I don't look like I have a lot of money but not really something you want to be saying to a client especially when my concern was more deep disappointment in breaking my no cavity streak and had zero to do with money. I left there thinking, OK, these things happen. I went in a couple of months later (last week) to get my cavities fixed and that went fine, he told me when I was there that if there was any issues, if I still experienced pain after a week to call in and they would make any corrections for free. . I felt discomfort in my teeth for the first couple of days,which I know is normal, but after that when it persisted, I called in to book an appointment and a couple of days before my Appointment the upper left side of my mouth was throbbing, no Temperature sensitivity but pain when I bit down or chewed. When he was looking at my mouth today he asked me where the discomfort was, I could clearly feel when I bit down that there was a nervy sensation. He informed me that where I seem to be feeling pain is not where he did the procedure last week… That's fine, I don't know anything about dentistry but I DO know that I wasn't experiencing pain AT ALL before the procedure and I came in because of newly experienced pain so I can only conclude that this pain was related to the procedure ? At the end, after "fixing" the area that was uncomfortable I was charged and used up more of my insurance for something that I was told would be free (I want to say at this point that it's really not about the money because I have insurance it's about the principal, why tell me it would be free If it's not) (And it's not like I came in today to abuse the system and get that freeby I've literally been chewing on the right side of my mouth for a week because it's painful to do it otherwise Sidenote when my wife went in he almost extracted the wrong tooth and she had to tap his hand to remind him that he was on the wrong side of her mouth Needless to say I will not be going back there, I find Doctor Shum To be full of himself and today kind left me feeling like what's going on with my teeth isn't normal and that I shouldn't be feeling pain there, so now I'm not even sure if this correction is going to work and I'm scrambling to find another dentist too look and tell me if everything is OK I do have to say that the people at the front desk are absolutely brilliant, friendly, and so are the other people that did my initial exams! Great staff ...just a bit of a "full of himself" dentist.

Fantastic experience: Amazing and very friendly staff from the desk, to the hygienists to the dentist's themselves. Was my first time back to a dentist in many years. They took time to explain everything they were going to do and what they thought would need to be done in the future. Answered any questions/concerns I had. I'm very Happy I chose this Dental Clinic and would recommend to anyone. Also, I called for my first appointment on Monday. They had me in on the Wednesday. With a follow up the next day and an appointment for a filling next week. Very fast and efficient.

Positive experience: Overall good so far. You’d have to pay 12.5 CAD for 2 hrs parking probably that’s the only downside to it. And it’s not 100% coverage I assume it’s related to the insurance but mine is group benefit and only covered 80%. Otherwise the team is professional and nice and you will get a toothpaste/ toothbrush/ floss for free.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with my experience at this clinic. The scaling was done solely by a hygienist, without the presence of the dentist, which is unusual. Unfortunately, the hygienist clearly lacked experience: she injured my gums, causing heavy bleeding throughout the procedure. My mouth was filling up with blood, and she wasn’t cleaning it properly, forcing me to swallow my own blood – a very unpleasant and unhygienic experience. She eventually decided to stop halfway through, claiming the bleeding was too severe to continue, leaving me with an incomplete treatment and fragile teeth, without closing the gaps. Despite this, I was charged $260 for a half-done treatment of 35min, even though I was initially quoted a maximum of $220. They are now asking for a second appointment to finish the treatment, bringing the total cost to around $550. This is unacceptable and feels like a scam. On top of that, I can’t understand all the positive reviews here. Are they genuine or paid for? My experience was completely opposite to what these reviews claim. I strongly discourage anyone from going to this clinic and will never return.

Negative experience: Had a broken denture yesterday. Took the broken denture to the clinic. The receptionist took it inside and then came back and set up an appointment for the next day. Today I went for the appointment, filled a form, met the dentist and was told they don't fix dentures and asked me to see a denturist. Charged me $53 on this. They could have simply told me they don't do fixtures. Instead they wasted my time today and costs me $53 for nothing!

Dr. Howarth always does an incredibly thorough job all the while never making me feel guilty about my lack of dental visits in the past. He is communicative, quick, and truly makes you feel valued as a patient. The underrated front/admin staff are also great in their swift responses and transparency in quotes/coordinating with my insurance provider. I am consistently impressed with their investment in keeping their clinic and technology modern, but what maintains my loyalty is: a) friendly staff b) attention to detail and integrity of Dr's (don't push treatments) c) front desk, billing, appointment efficiency Special shout out to my hygienist Farran (sp?) who is amazing.

I had multiple appointments with a few different dentist’s and hygienists - the first few dentists unfortunately moved onto different jobs, but my dentist today Dr. Howard was absolutely LOVELY and I will come back to see him for sure! My hygienist Selena was absolutely wonderful as well & would request her again! The office is incredibly clean and hygienic, would highly recommend!

Negative experience: Horrible experience! I went to fix a broken tooth 3 weeks ago , I explained what I need to the reception who confirmed she understands I needed fixed ASAP and will get me is ASAP, I go to spend 45 minutes a 100 xray with a new dentist and be told I was only booked for a new patient exam as the dentist I worked with no longer works there, I was so upset now I have to wait to fix my tooth, I make another appointment a week later with a different dentist at the same clinic, explaining again the work I need done based on the seesment I had just 2 weeks ago with them ( I didn't like the one they booked first) fastforward one week at 4PM the day before my 8.30 am appointment , I took the time off from work, arranged a baby sitter, they leave me a message that my appointment is canceled because they looked at my xray (which they have from 3 weeks) and think I need a root canal (which is for a different damn tooth) I Call the clinic and all i hear is appointment is canceled and manager is gone for day! go spend another week in pain with a broken tooth that may no be beyond repairing and wait another week to find another dentist . absolutly horrible! why me as a patient cant cancel less than 24 hours before but they give themselves the right to discard anything I may have planned to acoomodat the appointment they give me and just cancel on me few hours before! horrible. wasted my time, ruined my tooth and cost me money and a day of work! never going there again

Fantastic experience: Dr. Danny Shum and dental hygenist Kalvin are friendly, detail oriented professionas. I love the convenience of the clinic (close to transit and plentiful underground parking -parking can be easily validated at the Sungiven grocery store ($10 minimum for 2 hours/no minimum spend at the dollar store (1.5 hours). The clinic itself is beautiful, modern (they have overhead tv’s so you can watch a show while getting your teeth done) and clean (they made some major renovations recently). I can’t recommend this clinic enough (especially Dr. Shum and Kalvin!)

Fantastic experience: Dr. April Wang is such a life saver! I put off going to the dentist for years because of bad experiences at other clinics and when I told her I was super anxious, she did her best to try and accommodate me as much as possible. She took her time to make sure I was super numb, she checked in through out the procedures to make sure I was comfortable, she talked me through every single thing she was doing. I never once felt like she didn't have my best interests in mind and she never made me feel wrong or like I was a burden for being anxious. I had been bringing in a teddy to hold onto during my appointments while they worked on my teeth and the one day I forgot to bring him, they brought me out a little pillow to hold onto instead. It was so sweet and kind and they didn't have to do that at all but I was so appreciative of it. I'm completely blanking on the dental assistant's name but she was also incredible. Very gentle and sweet, she made me feel very calm! I highly recommend this clinic, they are super prompt with replies, they're available by email, they're very upfront about costs, and they're great at submitting insurance quotes ahead of time so there's never any sticker shock. I've recommended this clinic to all of my friends and family and will continue to come here for as long as I'm in BC. Thank you for making me smile again! :)

Fantastic experience: Dr.Lau and his team and receptionists, have always been exceptionally caring, kind and supportive around my dental issues — including dealing with my insurance provider. I really appreciate how Dr. Lau will always explain every step of his procedure in detail and gives me a heads up if anything happens. They will also explain if certain procedures are really necessary and obviously you have the ability to choose. Very grateful to be their patient.

Fantastic experience: My family has come here since moving to Vancouver 2 years ago. We love every dentist and hygienist here, but Dr. Muise has been exceptional with our 3 young girls. Even when we needed fillings, it was a comfortable and quick appointment. Such a pleasure to come here.. and the best dentist prize box too!

Fantastic experience: Myself and every person I have spoken to have had bad experience with dentists - being rude or rough. Someone told me about these guys so I gave them a shot and I now only go to them. Very polite staff at desk, hygienists and dentist! I have TMJ and they were very understanding of this trying to troubleshoot to keep me as comfortable as they can. They direct bill and tell you if insurance will cover any extras. 100% recommend! Also very easy to get in on short notice <3

Fantastic experience: I got referred to their office from My other dentists office because I had a swollen gum and throbbing tooth. The receptionist was super friendly and squeezed me in the next day. Dr. Ryan was incredible. He made sure I wasn’t in too much pain and kept checking my comfort level. He is very detailed and went above and beyond what I thought I would be getting checked. He was very thorough, and even referred me to a gum specialist just in case. I had to bring my 9 mo old with me, and the dental assistant was soo good with him, giving him things to distract him and made sure someone watched him while I was getting the x ray done. I loved my experience so much that I’ve asked to switch over to Ryan.

Negative experience: I've been a client for 5+ years yet my last visit was probably the most disappointing. The hygenist was wearing a black jacket on top of her scrubs. Not only did it look unprofessional, but I felt the jacket zipper against my head during the cleaning and it was uncomfortable. The dentist came in afterwards to do a checkup and the demeanor was also unprofessional/showed lack of concern for my inquiry. Pretty disappointed and thinking of switching.

Fantastic experience: A perfect dental center!! I was received urgently after breaking a tooth that morning. Fatimah & Doctor Rowena took the necessary time to examine and repair this broken tooth. A perfect job because we don’t see any cracks in the tooth. Thank you very much !! Of course we always forget the people in front of the reception, the girls were pleasantly nice when I took charge. Thanks too:)
