Fantastic experience: Ive never felt so comfortable going to the dentist! Dr. Stymiest’s practice and staff are exceptional all around.. knowledgeable, non judgmental and SO kind. Even though I moved from nanaimo to Chemainus, I will always make the commute to have such a great dental experience :))

Fantastic experience: An awesome dental office. A bright new building with first-rate equipment. The staff that dealt with me were excellent, from the front counter staff to the dentist. It was my first visit, and Sara (a hygienist) was fantastic. She’s intelligent, skilled, and personable. I’m happy they took me on as a new patient.

Fantastic experience: I highly suggest all the staff at Nanaimo smiles from my dentist (dr Kim) to all the staff (I need to ask their names again as I was so anxious). I had not been to a dentist in a long time and was scared, embarrassed and full of anxiety. The second I walked in they made sure I felt at ease and respected and it was a huge thing for me . I had a root canal and " laughing gas " and it was a game changer . If you have a fear of dentists etc this is 100% the place to go . I can't sing their praises enough.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at my dental appointment for my exam and cleaning. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming, professional, and attentive. The hygienist was very gentle and thorough during the cleaning, and both the hygienist and dentist took the time to explain everything clearly as they went along. They made sure I understood what they were doing, what they were checking for, and answered all of my questions without rushing.

Negative experience: Both teeth done in that clinic by Dr.Nadia Stymiest needed to be fixed by a different dentist in less than a year. It feels like the filling is made from cheap materials, not that smooth as usual. Chipping started after a couple of months after the filling had been done. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I’m sure we all have the same fears of the dentist, but I’ll say the moment you walk in the doors of that building. All of those fears get washed away. They were kind and understanding at the reception, as I was a new client. They answered any questions I had regarding the procedures or flexibility of appointments, and just down right fun and good people to talk with. I’ve always been skeptical of finding a dentist , never really been to one that fit or just felt like I’d want to go back to that office, but everyone there made me feel like this was the right choice. Usually you can feel a lot of tug, and pull on your teeth when they have you numbed, but I didn’t feel a darn thing! I was amazed at how quick and effective my Dr and assistant were even the numbing itself I’ve always felt and feared. (due to one incident) Not this time though everything was completely and utterly painless from the booking to the procedure. I’ve honestly just never enjoyed a dental experience so much in my life, and would strongly, strongly recommend these good folks over at Nanaimo Smile as your first or next choice. I will certainly myself be dealing with them as long as I can. I’d like to give a shout out to Dr. Jung Kim great guy fun to talk to, and certainly reinforces me that he knows what he’s doing. I would shout out to his assistant, but sadly I don’t not catch her names nonetheless. Fantastic

Positive experience: I am a seventeen year old teen He went to get a root canal and they had to Inject me 7 to numb the spot and she and her director person, they did get it done. But they accidentally left a hole or like an air bubble in it, and there was some pain even though I had such a big dose of lidocain and now i Believe I have to go back and pay more money to get it fixed. Even though we already paid in full. Hopefully , my wisdom tooth extraction will be a million times better as this will be the place i get em pulled

Fantastic experience: I just went here to try a new place as I moved back from out of province. I have anxiety with needles and dentists in general so I like to make sure I'm comfortable with where I go. That eliminates most of the stress for me. I had a cleaning and general check up and wow. Megan was my dental hygienist and she was phenomenal. Patient, kind, and very good at what she does! She also educated me along the way so I knew what she was doing and how to best care for my teeth. The dentist came in and did my check up and I feel very confident with his knowledge and demeanor. He was professional and listened to and addressed all of my concerns with ease. Positive experience: I had my first appointment with Nanaimo smiles on Saturday, the girls at the desk were very welcoming and the office was clean and bright. I have quite a bit of anxiety when it comes to dental work but Dr. Kim and his assistant were very kind and I felt at ease with them during my exam. There was some issues with the xray equipment that morning but they were resolved quickly , I had quite a few questions for the dentist but I didn't feel rushed to leave even with the delay. After my consultation I feel comfortable moving ahead with Nanaimo Smiles as my new Dental care team.

Fantastic experience: Great dentist office, the dental assistant (Emma) was informative and kind. She should get a raise The dentist was great as well, very thorough job.. I specifically went in for an exam for teeth whitening.. initially I was only expecting a quick look and then to get my whitening tray molds etc.. The whole appointment was x-rays and the dentist looking at my teeth for other issues.. ended up using all my benefits on that (not a big deal) There wasn't much transparency with pricing for whitening, I asked a couple of times for hard prices and couldn't obtain a quote.. I felt talked out of the whitening. Definitely going back! I also heard the owner is Canadian, which is great.

Fantastic experience: Nanaimo Smiles was referred to me by another dentist, in Nanaimo, that was going on vacation and couldn't help me. I needed a consultation on a crown that fell off. Everyone was very friendly, professional and took time to explain my options. If I lived on the island I would be a regular client of their's.

Fantastic experience: As an adult I still dislike the dentist very much, but Nanaimo smiles is hands down the best place! They're so kind and never make you feel bad for coming in with bad teeth. I highly recommend Nanaimo smiles! They’re also super easy to email with if you’re nervous making phone calls. They can get you in so fast and easy if you’re new patient.

Especially, with our busy schedules, there never is enough time to get all of life's tasks completed. Fantastic experience: Reception is a delight. Met me with enthusiastic kindness and provided accurate price estimates before any work was done—actually fit me in the day of my consult with zero notice which was a pleasant surprise. Office is bright, clean, welcoming. Dentist was really nice, and did his job faster than I expected. I was very nervous, but he did my work confidently, leaving me with no pain and minimal discomfort. (My only diss, is the large windows inside the “OR’s”. The view of the busy road and traffic noise was a little abrasive on my anxiety. But what can you do lol. Nobodies fault.)

Gentle and caring dental staff. Love that I can book with at this location or their other location, Ladysmith Smiles. One is closer to my work and the other to my home. Fantastic experience: Best dentist I’ve seen , very thorough in his root canal and bridge work. He showed and shared everything he was seeing on Xrays and what procedure he was going to do, with my full knowledge. Dentist spotted a cavity previous not noticed by others just under the bridge, which led to this being fixed. I was fit into a three appointments fast!! Bridge mold sent to make new bridge. Pain is gone. I was on vacation, and definitely recommend this dental office. Staff are friendly,welcoming, and caring. Greatly relieved and much appreciated service there.

Negative experience: Booked an appointment for myself and my partner. I couldn’t attend due to a high fever (39.8°C) and called as soon as the clinic opened to cancel—was even willing to provide a doctor’s note later after doctor’s visit. They said I should’ve informed earlier, which isn’t possible when you fall sick overnight. They claimed they wouldn’t charge the $50 no-show fee. Later, my partner—who was told he'd only owe ~$9 after insurance—was charged over $60 with no explanation or consent. Feels like they snuck in my no-show fee under bogus test charges. Very disappointed. Feels dishonest and misleading.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. They changed my appointment without asking, after it was confirmed last week to be with Dr. marvel. First time I saw Dr. marvel she was running late and I gave them the benefit of the doubt even though I had to wait a good 40 minutes for her to just do a quick exam after I had X-rays. This time they changed my appointment that was supposed to be with her and scheduled it with a male dentist. I was told she went home thinking she had no appointments during the time I was supposed to see her. They never asked me if that was ok to change my appointment, no call, nothing and unfortunately I couldn’t wait around without an answer as I could’ve been waiting awhile. They had no clear answers for me. The lack in communication and them changing my appointment without letting me know cost them a client today.

Fantastic experience: Went there for the first time because of a dental emergency they were able to get me right in and were very upfront and honest about the procedure and costs involved. Both the hygienists and the dentist were very personable and knowledgeable and very polite and understanding. Highly recommended great service.

It is a top quality clinic and the staff are wonderful. I had the best care at my clinic back home for 41 years. Thanks smiles for making me feel at home here in Nanaimo.

Fantastic experience: I recently went to Nanaimo Smiles for a cleaning and then some fillings. The office was able to make appointments for me quickly and to coordinate a cleaning and then fillings back to back. I was welcomed with compliments galore. I like to dress up and coordinate my jewellery, hat, shoes and purse. The welcome and compliments were "over the top". Not just one of the ladies but several complimented me. They made my day. The dentist, Dr. Kim was really patient, experienced and did an excellent job on my fillings. The office was state of the art and they made me feel so comfortable and offered a blanket of which I happily accepted. Easy office to get to and parking right outside. I highly recommend Nanaimo Smiles.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough excellent things about Nanaimo Smiles. All of the staff are incredibly compassionate, friendly and efficient. I took my daughter (7 years old) some days ago and she was so anxious but they were absolutely patient, from the receptionist to the hygienist to the dentist.
